Introduction
National Center for Education Statistics The National Center for Education Statistics is an organization dedicated to carrying out national educational statistics projects belonging to the Korea Educational Development Institute, a government-funded research institute under the Prime Minister. The educational statistics project, which has been in place since 1962, is one of the key statistical projects in the social sector out of more than 1,000 state-approved statistics.
Educational statistics, becoming increasingly important as an essential element in enhancing national competitiveness, are used as core information for planning, implementing, evaluating, and researching various education programs, including scientific and comprehensive policy-making process in Korea. The National Center for Education Statistics is continuously working to collect, analyze, and provide information on human resources necessary for the proper establishment and implementation of relevant policies in response to the national demands for statistics.
It was designated as the National Center for Education Statistics in 2017. Since 2018, the organization has been divided into the Center for Education Statistics Center and the Center for Education Indicators Research.
